MRPC to expand in Butler, add 20 jobs

Molded Rubber & Plastic Corp. will break ground in May on a 15,000-square-foot expansion of its Butler headquarters and expects to add about 20 jobs there in the next couple years as the business grows, the company told The Business Journal.

MRPC currently employs 120 people at its 85,000-square-foot facility in Butler and another 20 at its Largo, Fla., location, said president Greg Riemer.

The Butler expansion will add manufacturing and office space as well as a new lunch room, said spokeswoman Ashley Cobert. The project will be completed by the end of November.

The company makes silicone, rubber and thermoplastic components and assemblies for the medical device industry.

“As the medical industry has grown, our business has grown along with it over the last several years,” Riemer said in a phone interview. “We’ve gone after a relatively small niche within that market.”

The company grew sales 40 percent last year and expects to grow 15 percent in 2013, Riemer said.

Company leaders want to make an acquisition in the next couple years and to continue growing the business organically, Riemer said.
