MD&M East: A Recap

This 2019 Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East show took place June 11-13 in New York, NY at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The show was well attended, and it gave us the opportunity to meet with current clients and discuss applications with potential new clients.

One of the key trends that was touched upon multiple times by show attendees was the need for one supplier to handle multiple parts and phases of a project. For example, a supplier that offers full capabilities including liquid silicone rubber molding and thermoplastic manufacturing, assembly, automation and supply chain management. The “total solution” approach to molding components for medical devices has been our approach for several decades, because reducing the number of suppliers can often lead to improvements in project timelines and supply chain efficiencies.

A challenge that we heard loud and clear from attendees was finding a supplier that specializes in complex projects with a long development cycle. This is certainly an understandable challenge for both the client and sometimes the supplier. Our focus has been, and always will be, on building relationships and trust with our clients. And that includes investing time on challenging projects when needed, to help our clients achieve successful outcomes.

In addition to these topics, attendees sought out our team to learn more about our multi-material expertise. Our multi-material molding processes ensure product integrity, reliability and safety, while improving the form, fit and function of the final product. These processes include dedicated clean room work cells, and the ability to customize solutions based on project need. Multi-material molding has a been a capability of ours for an extensive amount of time, so we were more than happy to share insight and details with show attendees.

Now that the show has ended, we will be following up with the clients that expressed a project need, and look to continue the conversations that we began with them. If we were not able to connect at the show, or if now’s the time to chat about your project, please reach out. We’d love to hear from you.
